On August 15, 2024, Central Point School celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day, where students, faculty, and staff members paid tribute to the nation and freedom fighters of India. Independence is a remarkable day when we honour and respect all our freedom fighters who fought for India’s freedom.
It is a significant and momentous occasion in our nation’s history, marking the day when India gained freedom from British colonial rule. It is a day of pride, patriotism, and unity. The entire event was presided by our principal Mrs. Sharmistha Basak, secretary Mr. Samir Basak, Rector Mr. T.N. Mishra and our academic incharges, Mr. Peter Ignatius and Mr. Baidyanath Ghosh.
The celebrations started with a parade followed by drum beats and flag hoisting ceremony at the Central Point School Sodepur branch by the and Rector Mr. T.N. Mishra followed with the National Anthem, National song and pledge. The national flag was unfurled with utmost reverence, and the entire school stood in solemn respect as the national anthem resonated through the air.
The rector of the school Mr. T.N.Mishra delivered an inspiring speech and took the oath for the glory of our motherland. The program continued with the speech of the principal Mrs. Sharmistha Basak, emphasizing the importance of Independence Day and the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. These speeches served to educate and inspire the younger generation about the significance of our nation’s struggle for freedom.
After that the senior students proceeded towards the new branch of Central Point School in Khardah, Kalyani ExpressWay near Sadarhaat More, where again flag hoisting,march past with drum beats and national anthem was done along with a short cultural programme. In the lush green and serene environment, the students presented a spectacular treat.
The cultural programme which inculcated patriotic charm to the students was held in Sundari hall and continued for about three hours. All the students participated in this programme with great zeal. The students danced on beautiful patriotic songs and sang them too. A dance drama was also one of the main attractions of the day, where the students portrayed the patriotic journey of some of our freedom fighters.
Later on medals were distributed to the students who excelled in a talent hunt test organised by FITJEE.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the principal and ended by distributing refreshments among the students and teachers. Central Point School paid a tribute to all the Patriots and recalled them with their memorable performances. This day was made a success by the endless effort of the students and teachers.
